Paraspara Group

Building prosperity together.

I. The name

Paraspara is an old word for one another.

Para means another person. Paraspara folds that word back on itself, so the other person is looking back at you. Mutual, in the oldest sense of the word.

The same word, said twice, meeting in the middle.

It is the word for the things that are only true when they run both ways. Trust that is returned. A gain that costs no one. An agreement that reads the same from either side of the table.

II. Our belief

Most of what we will be trusted with took someone years to earn.

Land held through three generations. The savings behind a first house. Money that a family has put aside for a future it has not met yet.

All of it arrives looking like a transaction. It is closer to a large part of somebody's life, converted into a single decision. That is the whole reason to be careful, and the reason to be slow on the occasions when slowness is what care requires.

So we are building the group on five commitments. They are written as rules rather than sentiments, because each one is easiest to abandon at the exact moment it matters.

  1. Transparency

Say the entire thing, including the part that costs us something to say.

  2. Responsibility

Handle another person's land, money and time more carefully than our own.

  3. Fairness

A good agreement is one that everyone in it would sign a second time.

  4. Patience

Some kinds of value appear only for people who are willing to wait for them.

  5. Respect

Everyone in an agreement is a participant in it, whatever they bring to it.

III. What we are building

A group, rather than a single business.

In time we intend to work across four related things: the places people live, the land they hold, what gets built on it, and the ways a family grows what it has. The same relationships run through all four, and they ask for the same discipline.

None of it exists yet. We are writing it down anyway, in the open, so that what we actually do can be measured against what we said we would do.

  • Places

Homes, neighbourhoods, and the ordinary quality of living in them.

  • Land

Plots, farmland, and land improved with more patience than it is usually given.

  • Building

Construction and infrastructure: the work that has to be right underneath.

  • Capital

Financial ventures designed around shared and unhurried growth.

Intended directions. Not current operations.

IV. The long view

We would rather be trusted for thirty years than noticed for one.

Anyone can put up something that impresses people this season. It is much harder to build something you would still be willing to explain in detail twenty years later, to the family who bought it, in front of their children.

So we will grow only where we can keep our word: into work we can do properly, at a pace that lets us stay honest about it. In the early years that will mean saying no far more often than yes. We have made our peace with that.

Nothing worth keeping is built alone.

We are at the beginning, and we would rather say so.

There is nothing to point at yet. No completed projects, no figures, no history. What exists is an intention, published where it can be held against us later.

That seemed like the right place to start.

Paraspara Group is being established. Our formal contact details will appear here as they are put in place.
